Healthy Streams Animated Videos for Nelson City Council
Commissioned by Mohawk Media for Nelson City Council, the Nelson Stormwater Educational Videos were created as part of the Healthy Streams initiative—Council’s freshwater improvement program. This initiative brings together various projects, including Project Maitai/Mahitahi and Wakapuaka Bursting into Life, alongside funding from the Ministry of Primary Industries’ Hill Country Erosion Fund.
At Meeka Digital, I was responsible for the entire visual production process, from storyboarding and illustration to animation and final rendering. My work also involved extensive research into local plants and wildlife to ensure authenticity, as well as designing engaging characters that helped communicate the importance of protecting our waterways. These animations provided simple yet impactful guidance on keeping chemicals and waste out of our freshwater systems, empowering the community to take action at home.
The final videos were published on the Nelson City Council website, incorporated into educational programs, and even screened in local cinemas—spreading awareness and inspiring positive environmental change across Nelson.
