Commissioned by Mohawk Media for the New Zealand Drug Foundation, Did You Know? is an animated educational series designed to support young people, families, teachers, and health professionals in having informed conversations about alcohol and other drugs. Since its launch in 2017, the series has covered alcohol, cannabis, volatile substances, synthetic drugs, methamphetamine, MDMA, and nicotine—providing key facts in a clear and engaging format.

At Meeka Digital, I contributed to the character design, illustration, and layout of the animations, helping to create a visually compelling and accessible experience. The series underwent a major revamp in 2023, introducing modernized characters, a fresh look, and an updated visual style to better connect with today’s youth.

Developed in collaboration with health professionals and youth workers, Did You Know? blends scientific insights with relatable storytelling, covering both the physiological and emotional effects of substance use. The series follows a Watch – Ask Questions – Listen approach, encouraging open conversations, harm reduction, and a key message: “Always look out for your mates!”

Recognized by AOD youth workers as New Zealand’s go-to guide for alcohol and drug awareness, Did You Know? continues to be an essential resource in helping young people make informed choices about their well-being.
